I am on the Job Market
Karibu to my webpage! My name is Fenet, I earned my Ph.D. in Economics from Trier University, Germany in 2024 with summa cum laude distinction.
I am an economist. My fields of interest are labor economics, development economics, and personal economics, with a focus on gender and migration. In my research, I examine the economic integration of refugees and other migrants in the German labor market, examining the employment gap between natives and different immigrant groups.
In addition, I (with my coauthor Uwe Jirjahn) examine the consequences of integration into the society and workplace on trade union membership of immigrants in Germany. Furthermore, using data from Ethiopia, I investigate the role of occupational segregation on the gender wage gap and the effect of women's economic empowerment on intimate partner violence in Ethiopia.
